A million dollars? What even costs a million dollars? If you're supposed to be engaging and enriching the state of culture and commerce, how do you not blow it putting the money in hands that don't need it or for whom it's a pittance, like paying the city for a permit?
I think I'd buy a 998,000 dollars worth of local art, get a neglected warehouse for $2,000 for a month or $1000/month for two, and shop around a nearly million dollar collection of local talent to a decent home for donation. Perhaps establish a new private collection a la Barns with the right patron.????? Profit?
-artists get paid supporting faith in the local market
-warehouse owner gets market rate for their space and may inspire a longer term tenant.
-someone with the means to share it gets a great collection and can continue it's vision by adding to it. A good reason to keep buying art.
-The exposure and prestige should up the artists prices at least 50 bucks right?
-The city looks good for being so baller
I think Scott is trying to say somthing about posting...
